Balloon
Zoo is your one stop, all round clown arts agency.
I have been clowning about for more than a decade now, and can
offer you a wide range of fun-stuff. Having fun with balloons
is my greatest love, so I stuck with the name BalloonZoo !
Aside from balloons, I perform with magic, juggling 3-4 balls,
fire-juggling, Chinese yo-yo, one wheel cycle, silly songs, jokes,
face-painting.
My
focus is on "being a clown." My silly face is my best
asset I guess. I will perform for kids of all ages, for all occasions,
especially Birthdays. My act is all clean clown comedy, that will
be enjoyed by the whole family. My act is designed to conform
with the International clown code of ethics. I am a member in
good standing with the SA Clown Register.
I
love opportunities to teach and share skills with kids, and much
of this aspect of my work is free. I aim to increase my involvement
in local communities by sharing and teaching skills. I host workshops
aimed at building child participation and boosting self esteem.
These workshops and all visits to children in genuine need, especially
kids in hospitals, are not charged for.

I came from a theatre background.I was in
my mummys tummy while she was performing in stage musicals. I had
always hoped to make it as an actor.
My evolution into clowning began around 1991 while travelling
Europe.
I was fascinated with the weird and wonderful street
performers that I met in France. My first lesson was received
from an Austrian mimic, who challenged me to try communicating
without words for one whole day, while exploring my gestures and
character with a mirror.
People were always telling me I should be a clown, though at this
stage I was not so sure.
I can actually remember the exact day, many years later at a street
festival, when I first put on proper clown costume and make -up,
and ventured out into the crowds. .It was then that I experienced
my clown character being born "all at once". This was
around 1993, the year I returned to Cape Town from Europe.
Shortly
afterward, I received my first kick in theclown pants from a
clown who helped me with juggling, make-up and my first balloon-lessons.
He quickly put me to work in the deep end.
It has been about a decade of looking and learning, practising
and performing, and there is clearly no stopping.
I have found what I was born to do, making your family laugh, that's
the sweetest sound of all !
